What is an eSIM?
It is a digital SIM. Instead of slotting a plastic chip into your phone, you install the plan by scanning a QR code. Your usual SIM stays in place, so your home number keeps working for WhatsApp and calls.
When should I install it?
Before you travel, on Wi-Fi. Installing only puts the plan on the phone: it does not start counting then. Usage starts when you arrive and the eSIM connects to the local network for the first time.
Does my current number stop working?
No. The eSIM comes in as a second line, for data only. You set the Mondial Chips plan as mobile data and keep your usual number for calls and messages.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Most phones released from 2019 on do. You can check your model on our device page, or check on the phone itself: if an EID number shows up in the phone information, it supports eSIM.
How long until I get the eSIM?
Right after the payment clears. We e-mail you a secure link to your QR code, and it is also waiting in your account.
Can I use my phone as a hotspot?
On the plans that allow sharing, yes. Each plan card says when hotspot is included.
What happens when the data runs out?
The connection stops until the plan expires. You can buy another plan for the same destination whenever you want, without waiting for the previous one to end.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, while the eSIM has not been installed on a device. Once installed, the plan has been issued by the carrier and cannot be taken back. Our refund policy covers each case.
